Connecting to the WiFi
Step 1: Connect the 'DETNSW' named wifi connection using your user.name@detnsw where your username is the first part of your school email.
Step 2: Make suer you have 'proxy auto discovery' turned on. Once you have configured this you will not need to change any settings between home and school.
What software should be installed on your BYO Device?
As part of BYOD, it is important that your device is ready for learning. Just like preparing your exercise books and textbooks, you will need to prepare software in advance.
We ask that you always install software while at home. This will ensure the filter does not stop any downloads and logins. It also saves our bandwidth and the use of the WiFi in the school.
All subjects:
The following software should be installed and activated before bringing your device to school. This software will be used in the following subjects: English, Mathematics, Science, Geography, History, LOTE, Technology, Visual Art, Music, PDHPE.
Office 2019 including OneNote
Microsoft software products are available for staff and students as part of the enterprise agreement. Availability and access to different products varies depending on the device and the software. All DoE school students are eligible to download Microsoft desktop software for their personally owned devices through the student portal.
Adobe Creative Cloud
The Department of Education has an enterprise agreement with Adobe which allows department staff and school students (7-12 only) to install Adobe software for free on personally owned devices. This gives students access to Adobe Creative Cloud, Spark and more
Access to Adobe software by both students and staff, is provided through single-sign on via the student and staff portals. Home internet access is required.
How students can access Adobe Creative Cloud
All NSW Public School students also have access to Adobe Creative Cloud via their DoE Single Sign-On. Students in years 7 to 12 can access Adobe Creative Cloud on BYOD and at home while students in years K to 6 can only access Adobe Creative Cloud on school devices.
