The release this week of the 2013 HSC/ATAR results has bought smiles all around at Dubbo College. The Higher School Certificate results were released at 6am on Wednesday morning and Dubbo College Senior Campus achieved 30 Band 6s and 90 Band 5s. Based on these results, the school has risen 110 places in the NSW rankings to 441stin the state. "This is a wonderful achievement and we are very proud of these results" said Kerri Leigh-Gordon, College Director. She went on to thank the staff for their contribution to the education of the students while they have attended Dubbo College.
Year 12 student, Natasha Wykes was stunned when she read her text message from the NSW Board of Studies. Natasha gained 5 of the School's 30 Band 6 results. She scored 90 or above in Advanced English, Health and Physical Education, Modern History, History Extension and Legal Studies.
The release of the Australian Tertiary Admission Tanks (ATARs) was yet another cause for celebration. Natasha Wykes achieved and ATAR of 98.25, the highest ATAR in Dubbo. Senior Campus Principal, Andrew Jones was delighted with the results. "This has capped off a great year for Dubbo College Senior Campus" he said. "We have achieved great results in the HSC and the ATARs. This comes on top of 95 students receiving University Early Entry offers, a record number of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders (ATSI) students graduating and 84% of our eligible ATSI students being offered university placements".
Dubbo College had 176 students sit the HSC in 2013. 47 ATSI students graduated this year, the highest number in NSW. The results achieved this year are a direct result of the hard work of students, teachers and parents and families. Andrew Jones said "Every student should be proud of what they have achieved so far" and Dubbo College is proud of its students and of the 2013 school year. "I would like to thank our dedicated staff for all their hard work this year" said Andrew.
