Dubbo College Senior Campus principal Andrew Jones has attributed a boost in HSC results to the hard work of students and the dedication of his staff.
Mr Jones said the 2017 results had seen a major shift, with more students achieving in the top three bands and far fewer in the lower range.
"The results of the whole cohort lifted considerably and I can attribute that to the determination of students and teachers at Senior Campus," he said.
"During the past two years our staff have been working around both student literacy and feedback to students and I believe this has played a major role in boosting our outcomes.
"Teachers have also been providing specialised tutoring programs during school holidays and outside school hours and I believe this has proved really beneficial to our students.''
Mr Jones was speaking at the College's annual ATAR morning tea, which saw a large number of Year 12 graduates return to the school to celebrate their achievements.
The Dubbo College dux for 2017 is Ashwini Manorathan who intends to study medicine at the University of New South Wales in 2018.
Ashwini achieved an ATAR of 96.95, after also gaining a percentile rank of 96 in the medicine-specific test, the UMAT. This score placed her in the top 0.1 per cent of rural UMAT applicants.
Tegan Shields said she had received an early offer to study criminal justice at CSU in Bathurst, with a view to ultimately going into policing.
Hannah Bass, who will spend a gap year in a childcare traineeship, will then study occupational therapy at CSU Albury.
Ethan Hughes is hopeful of studying a Bachelor of Commerce and Advanced Studies at the University of Sydney, while Tyler Spang will attend Macquarie University where he will study earth and environmental science.
Darcee Nixon, with an ATAR of 89.2 was thrilled with her result and is now hopeful of gaining a place in occupational therapy at the University of Newcastle, following a gap year working in Dubbo.
Jennifer Spence who achieved an ATAR of 89.15 will study commerce at the University of Sydney, anticipating a career in accountancy.
College arts captain Sascha Wykes has applied for two major scholarships worth $10,000 and intends to apply in 2018 to attend the New York Film Academy to study acting and directing.
The talented dancer and actor said she had already been offered employment with the Broadway Dance Academy, where she had previously undertaken voluntary work.
