Dubbo College leaders were elated when they came together early this morning to analyse the 2018 Higher School Certificate results.

College students have worked hard to boost their performance with the whole Year 12 cohort achieving at an improved level.

Senior Campus principal Andrew Jones said the school’s leadership team was thrilled with the results, which showed a major increase in band six levels and a significant boost to band fives.

“Not only have our top students achieved at a higher level than previous years, but our less academic kids have also lifted their performance, which is just wonderful,” he said.

“We pride ourselves on supporting and inspiring students across the academic spectrum and I am truly proud that our HSC results reflect this.

“I am very happy for our students, but I am equally proud of our teachers because of their dedication and commitment to getting the job done.”

Mr Jones said the Senior Campus focus had been to bring parents on board with their child’s learning.

“Our programs have focused on working with students and parents together, with specialised ‘unpacking the task’ nights,” he said.

“We undertake a range of activities at Senior Campus, which sees students, teachers and parents working together to maximise student outcomes.

“A mentoring program has been established for our students and we have strengthened our commitment to teaching study skills.

“We were always confident that our teachers had the ability to deliver courses with expertise, but we have now broadened the support base for students beyond the classroom.”

Mr Jones said the unique young adult learning environment at Dubbo College Senior Campus had also contributed to HSC success.

Band six results at Dubbo College were spread across 16 subjects.
